Alrica Candiese

When you think of foam you do not necessarily think of fashion, but you will now thanks to handbag designer Beth Radzin Swanson.

Beth is the designer of Phomaz - pronounced foam-as. "Beth sought out branding guru, Jay Leopardi. Using acoustic foam, found on the walls of a recording studio, they developed the prototype for the original Rad Tote design. A year later, the second design, the Rad Mini, has been added to the collection."

I had the pleasure of chatting it up with Beth and got the deets on her Phomaz design.

 What inspired Phomaz?

I love music, I love fashion…it was a way to bring the two of them together. It's something that's never been done before.

Do you consider yourself an innovative fashion designer?

I am honored to be in that category. I like being unique.

What feedback have you received from buyers and partners?

The feedback has been extremely positive because it is something different. I literally am just starting and because of the uniqueness of the bag, it has already seen in Boston Fashion Week, Paris Fashion Week, and on the red carpet in London.

What is next for the Phomaz line?

I have a day-to-evening bag and a casual tote. I have several ideas to keep changing the design. I want hearts on the back and big red lips. I love that playful...over the top - not serious - fun stuff.

Phomaz is featured in our Must Have Section for this month and is a definitely a must have for this fall. Get your hands on a Phomaz and stand out of the crowd. Order yours today!
